Caroline Boyfield is a Franco-British visual artist living and working in Brittany since 2018. She holds a BA in Fine Art (University of South Wales, Cardiff / Open University). Her work is held in public and private collections in the UK, France, Ireland and the US.
Caroline favours a multidisciplinary approach to address subjects around our complex relationship with nature, whilst exploring emotional and psychological resonances in our collective discourse around the body and the natural environment. Sailing, walking and gardening are the vehicles for her inspiration.
Through intuitive mark-making, adding and subtracting, tearing and juxtaposing different elements, the artist uses a range of media to express in fragments her experience of living and her connection with the natural world.
The creative process is for her a means of bringing together a biodiversity of techniques, to experiment, adapt, evolve and create fleeting moments where nothing is closed and everything remains possible, where experience and memory come together to create meaning and the potential for growth and where, in the words of the Cuban-American artist Ana Mendieta, "One universal energy which runs through everything: from insect to man, from man to spectre, from spectre to plant, from plant to galaxy" can be expressed.
